STARTING SALARY

$55,844.63 (per the Local 150 union contract through April 30, 2026; subject to change upon completion of negotiations)

HOURS PER WEEK

40+ hours per week. This position requires a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, and participation in an on-call rotation.

GENERAL DUTIES

This position performs a wide variety of unskilled and semi-skilled tasks related to the maintenance, development, and operation of the Village's parks, recreation facilities, grounds, open spaces, natural areas, rights-of-way, and other Village-owned properties. Duties include, but are not limited to: Maintenance and care of parks, natural areas, and recreation buildings Installation, removal, and maintenance of Village-owned trees Seasonal operations such as ice rink maintenance, snow plowing, sidewalk shoveling, holiday décor installation/removal, and planting annual flower displays Asphalt patching, pot holes, concrete work, sign and street light maintenance, carpentry work, minor electrical work, brick paver maintenance, restoration work, mowing, sweeping, dead animal removal, trash pickup, fence and guardrail maintenance Operation of hand tools, trucks, and motorized or heavy equipment Emergency response and weather-related operations as needed

REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma or equivalent, or any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the work Illinois CDL Class "A" with air brake and tanker endorsements, or the ability to obtain within 12 months of hire (in-house CDL training provided for qualified candidates) Ability to respond to emergencies on a 24/7, year-round basis Ability to lift up to 100 pounds
