Job Description
Oak Leyden is currently seeking a Maintenance Laborer/Assistant to join our Facilities team, assisting with all maintenance needs for our 15 properties in and around Oak Park, IL. The Maintenance Laborer is responsible for general building and grounds maintenance and repair services for all Agency sites as directed. Services are provided on an ongoing and as-needed basis as directed by the Facilities Manager and are generally documented on work orders. $20-21/hr DOE Duties include but are not limited to: Completing requested maintenance and repair work. Maintain appropriate and accurate records, forms, and reports as required by Agency policy or as directed by the Maintenance Manager. Conduct monthly safety checks of fire/disaster prevention and warning systems (smoke detectors, sprinkler heads, fire extinguishers, emergency lighting systems, etc.) Assist with minor repairs related to plumbing, electrical, carpentry and home appliances. Will perform landscaping, lawn care and snow removal duties at any hour as assigned by manager. Assist with moving furniture between properties as needed. On-call duties on a rotating schedule (After hours and weekends)
Requirements:
Experience using tools associated with the trades; scheduling and completing assigned tasks; evaluating maintenance needs; and notifying supervisors of safety hazards or repair/replacement needs. Knowledge of the methods, materials, and equipment used in custodial work; landscaping and maintenance. Valid Illinois driver's license, insurability under Oak Leyden's vehicle insurance, and willingness to drive. Ability to lift heavy furniture properly (up to approximately 90 lbs), work independently or as part of a team, and work respectfully around individuals with developmental disabilities. Ability to successfully complete all background checks, required trainings, and pre-employment screenings. Ability to work as alone or as a member of a team; and willingness to work around individuals with developmental disabilities.
