at PCCEO, Inc in Peoria, Illinois, United States Job Description The Part-Time Environmental Services Assistant is responsible for ensuring that all assigned facilities are maintained in a safe, clean, sanitary, and orderly condition in accordance with Head Start Performance Standards and applicable health and safety regulations. This role supports the overall learning environment by maintaining both interior and exterior spaces that promote the well-being of children, staff, and families.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain ongoing cleanliness and sanitation of all facility areas, including classrooms; hallways and storage areas; restrooms; stairwells; kitchen areas; boiler rooms; offices and workstations; and multipurpose spaces such as auditoriums or gymnasiums. Ensure all areas are free of hazards, damage, or defacement and are maintained in a manner that supports a safe and welcoming environment during all hours of operation. Collect, remove, and properly dispose of trash and waste in accordance with local health and safety regulations. Perform routine and preventive maintenance tasks, including vacuuming carpets; mopping, stripping, and waxing floors; and completing minor painting and repair work as needed. Monitor and replenish restroom and facility supplies to ensure continuous availability and compliance with sanitation standards. Maintain exterior grounds, including but not limited to snow removal; debris removal; lawn care; hedge trimming; and ensuring entrances, exits, and walkways remain safe and accessible. Support program operations by assisting with event setup and cleanup, demonstrating cooperation and teamwork with staff and program leadership. Open and secure the facility daily by ensuring doors, windows, and emergency exits are properly managed in accordance with safety procedures. Safely operate and maintain custodial equipment and tools, adhering to established safety protocols. Participate in required safety trainings and professional development activities, including OSHA-related workshops, to ensure compliance and continuous quality improvement. Perform additional duties as assigned by Head Start leadership. The omission of specific duties does not exclude the assignment of other responsibilities reasonably related to this position. Job Posting Part-Time Environmental Services Assistant $15.75 - $18:00 We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Environmental Services Assistant to help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our facility. This role is essential in supporting daily operations and ensuring spaces are well-maintained for staff, children, and visitors.
What You'll Do:
Clean and maintain classrooms, restrooms, hallways, offices, and common areas Perform floor care, including vacuuming, mopping, stripping, and waxing Remove trash and ensure proper waste disposal Restock restroom and facility supplies Assist with basic maintenance tasks, including minor painting Maintain outdoor areas, including lawn care, snow removal, and debris cleanup Help set up and clean up for events and activities Ensure doors, windows, and building access points are secured daily Safely use cleaning equipment and tools Attend required safety trainings
