Job Description
Position Summary Responsible for keeping the YWCA building and grounds clean and safe, setting up room arrangements for groups and classes using the YWCA facilities, and performing minor maintenance repairs. They will maintain the highest degree of confidentiality associated with performing the duties of this function. They will also maintain, at all times, a commitment to quality service on behalf of the YWCA Sauk Valley. Primary Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Administration Provides regular maintenance updates to the Director of Operations; Organizes and schedules a semi-monthly walk-through of building with Director of Operations; Creates and maintains an equipment maintenance and warranty schedule; Notifies Director of Operations of needed repairs and maintenance; May serve as direct contact to supply, maintenance and service vendors; Orders supplies associated with responsibilities; Maintains knowledge of inventory relevant to duties; General building monitoring for cleanliness and maintenance issues. Program Development & Implementation There are no program development or implementation responsibilities associated with this position. Direct Service Regular maintenance of building and grounds including trash removal, lawn mowing raking and snow removal; Complete minor repairs or maintenance projects including painting, replacing ceiling tiles, and replacing light bulbs; Responsible for timely set up and breakdown of meeting areas, throughout the day as needed, according the master calendar. This includes table and chair configuration and placement; Call area services for repair or quotes, as needed; Check the boilers and other heating and cooling equipment routinely, reporting any issues to the Director of Operations; Ensure that all emergency exit lights and their maintenance are performed routinely; Checks and secures the building at the beginning and the end of each shift to ensure the safety and cleanliness of the premises. Cleans rooms, hallways, kitchens, restrooms, offices, stairways, and other areas of the building according to the organization's standards. Sweeps, mops, buffs, strips and waxes floors. Clean and vacuum rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture and blinds. Washes and dusts walls, ceilings, windows, doors and sills on a regular basis; General receiving duties; Properly stores and maintains cleaning supplies and equipment;
Equipment:
Uses hand tools of trade and related power equipment, including broom, mops, floor cleaning and waxing machines, vacuum cleaners, carpet cleaning machine, shovels, power mowers and hand tools.Supervisory:
There are no supervisory duties associated with this position.Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
Some local travel may be required; including to our Dixon location to perform general maintenance tasks. Successful completion of 60 hours of mandatory in-house training.Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; Prior custodial/maintenance experience; Knowledge of and experience with general cleaning procedures and cleaning equipment; Ability to engage in heavy manual labor and lift up to 60 pounds; Ability to climb ladders; Basic maintenance knowledge; Effective communication skills; Punctuality and strong work ethic; Attention to detail; Ability to work unsupervised; Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships both internally and externally; Availability to work some evenings and weekends; A working telephone; Access to reliable transportation; Commitment to and support of the YWCA Mission.Physical & Mental Demands:
The position requires sitting, standing, stooping, bending, lifting, walking, climbing, speaking and driving. The functions of this position are varied in nature and require the ability to make clear and concise decisions and to respond in an effective and appropriate manner during crisis. Additionally, this position is expected to utilize appropriate sensitivity and trauma informed practices while working with clients and staff members.
