Non-exempt Purpose of Position:
Incumbent serves as Maintenance for the Warrick County Parks and Recreation Department, responsible for maintaining vehicles, equipment, tools, buildings, and facilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintains vehicles, equipment, and tools, including oil changes, tires changes/rotations, and preventative maintenance. Maintains buildings and facilities, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical components, and related repairs. Maintains lift stations and sewer pump stations. Performs grounds maintenance including mowing/trimming, removing weeds, trimming/removing trees and limbs, and other duties as assigned. Assist in emptying trash cans, painting, cleaning/disinfecting bathrooms, and cleaning facilities. Maintains petting zoo and cleans bathrooms, pavilion, and shop as assigned. Performs related duties as assigned.

Friday Job Qualifications :
High school diploma or GED. Must be at least 18 years of age. Working knowledge of and ability to make practical application of Department safety policies and procedures, including OHSA guidelines and basic maintenance and sanitation requirements for assigned areas of responsibility. Parks and Recreation\Maintenance Working knowledge of safety precautions and practices applicable to proper use of safety clothing/equipment and working with a variety of cleaning chemicals and pesticides, with ability to read and understand equipment manuals and label directions for correct mixing and use of cleaning supplies and/or pesticides. Working knowledge of maintenance practices, building upkeep, and basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical trades, and apply knowledge to complete renovations/repairs on buildings and equipment with the ability to analyze and diagnose causes of mechanical and electrical malfunctions and complete related maintenance and safety measures as required. Ability to operate a variety of hand and/or power tools in performance of duties, including, but not limited to, hammer, screw drivers, wrenches, drills, power saws, air nozzle, air compressor, driver, ratchet, files, mop, broom, gauges, and other tools as needed. Ability to physically perform essential duties of the position, including sitting/walking at will, sitting/standing/walking for long periods, driving, lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling objects weighing over 50 pounds, handling/grasping objects, crouching/kneeling/bending/ reaching, close/far vision, color/depth perception, hearing sounds/communication, and speaking clearly. Ability to comply with all employer and department policies and work rules, including, but not limited to, attendance, safety, drug-free workplace, and personal conduct. Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with co-workers, other County departments, and the public, including being sensitive to professional ethics, gender, cultural diversities, and disabilities. Ability to understand, memorize, retain, and carry out written or oral instructions and present findings in oral or written form. Ability to apply knowledge of people and locations. Ability to work alone with minimum supervision and with others in a team environment. Ability to work rapidly for long periods on several tasks at a time, often under time pressure. Ability to plan/layout assigned work projects and read/interpret detailed prints and sketches. Ability to perform arithmetic operations such as counting, adding, subtracting, computing, and calculating. Ability to regularly work weekends and occasionally work extended hours and evenings and respond to emergencies on a 24-hour basis and from an off-duty status. Possession of a valid driver's license and demonstrated safe driving record.
Responsibility:
Incumbent performs duties with work schedules and priorities determined by supervisor. Incumbent follows standard operating procedures or policy and procedural manuals. Incumbent must have supervisor's permission to deviate from standard operating procedures. Incumbent has some flexibility in performance of duties. Incumbent reports directly to Assistant Superintendent.
Personal Work Relationships:
Incumbent maintains frequent contact with co-workers, other County departments, court personnel, and the public for the purposes of exchanging information and rendering service.
Physical Effort and Work Environment:
Incumbent's duties involve sitting/walking at will, sitting/standing/walking for long periods, driving, lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling objects weighing over 50 pounds, handling/grasping objects, crouching/kneeling/bending/reaching, close/far vision, color/depth perception, hearing sounds/communication, and speaking clearly. Strain may be intense for frequent or moderate durations and effort is exerted regularly for sustained periods, usually in connection to such duties as working in extreme temperatures.
Working Conditions:
Incumbent performs a majority of duties in a variety of outdoor settings, in a garage/shop, and in trucks/heavy equipment, involving walking on uneven terrain, exposure to extreme temperatures, wet/icy surroundings, fumes/odors/dust/dirt, chemicals, noisy environments, confined spaces, and heights. Safety precautions must be followed at all times to avoid injury to self and others, including wearing protective clothing and equipment. Incumbent regularly works weekends and occasionally works extended hours and evenings and responds to emergencies on a 24-hour basis and from an off-duty status. To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function of the position satisfactorily.
