This role is essential to maintaining a safe, functional, and comfortable environment for residents, visitors, and staff. As a Maintenance Assistant, you will assist with preventative maintenance, repairs, life safety compliance, and general facility upkeep. You will work closely with the maintenance team to ensure building systems, equipment, and grounds are maintained in accordance with facility standards and regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities Assist with landscaping duties, including mowing, trimming, planting, and general grounds maintenance Maintain and service lawn care equipment and tools Repair and maintain interior and exterior door locks, windows, screens, and related fixtures Perform painting, cleaning, and maintenance of exterior and interior surfaces as needed Replace burned-out light bulbs and repair or replace light fixtures throughout the facility Clean and replace air filters and maintain HVAC systems in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and facility procedures Assist with heating, cooling, plumbing, and electrical repairs as directed Clean and maintain refrigerator/freezer coils and compressors Participate in fire drills, building evacuations, and life safety code compliance activities Complete assigned safety audits and maintain required life safety records Maintain and repair call systems, cords, bed alarms, chair alarms, and related resident safety equipment Perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on commercial washers, dryers, and facility equipment Ensure fire extinguishers are inspected and maintained properly Assist with carpentry projects, drywall repair, ceiling tile replacement, caulking, painting, staining, and flooring repairs Support overall plant operations and respond promptly to maintenance requests throughout the facility Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred Previous experience in facility maintenance, construction, or general repair work preferred Working knowledge of plumbing, HVAC, electrical systems, alarm systems, appliances, and general building maintenance General construction and carpentry experience preferred Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently when needed Professional appearance, positive attitude, and strong work ethic Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team Commitment to maintaining a safe and comfortable environment for residents and staff Compassion and understanding toward elderly individuals and persons with disabilities Benefits Competitive compensation Health, dental, and vision insurance Paid Time Off (PTO) Supportive and collaborative work environment Opportunities for growth and advancement Grow With Us At Heritage Grove Estates, we are committed to supporting the development of our team members.
