Burkmann Nutrition, a reputable and family-owned manufacturer of high-quality animal nutrition products, is currently seeking an Industrial Maintenance Mill Mechanic Helper that is eager and willing to learn and grow as part of our maintenance team. Located at 901 W. Walnut Street in Danville, KY, this full-time position offers first-shift hours.

Job Summary:

As an Industrial Maintenance Mill Mechanic Helper, you will collaborate with the Burkmann Maintenance Lead and other Mill Mechanics to ensure the safe and efficient operation of our plant production equipment. Your work will be crucial in minimizing downtime. We are looking for a candidate with a strong work ethic and a proven track record of dependability. Working under the guidance of the Maintenance Lead, you will assist with:

• Performing electrical and mechanical maintenance using appropriate hand, power, and specialty tools.
• Efficiently troubleshooting mechanical or electrical problems.
• Identifying equipment failures and making necessary adjustments, repairs, or replacements using appropriate tools.
• Observing the operation of production equipment and identifying areas requiring repairs or modifications.
• Installing, repairing, and inspecting various industrial electrical machinery and systems.
• Conducting minor plumbing maintenance, such as replacing or repairing leaks in drains and unclogging faucets.
• Performing typical building and facility maintenance tasks.
• Undertaking special assignments, which may involve traveling to other Burkmann facilities.

In order to be considered for this position, experience with any of the following will be helpful, but not required, and should be included on your resume: welding, pipefitting, fabrication, gearbox and bearing maintenance, lubrication, pumps and piping systems, mechanical maintenance, hydraulic and pneumatic system. The ability to follow instructions and prioritize tasks as directed by leadership is crucial. A minimum of one year of experience in any mechanical maintenance trade is necessary, along with a High School diploma or GED.

Physical Requirements:

A. Possess the ability to work at heights of up to 135', climb ladders and stairs, work from ladders/scaffolds, and operate in confined spaces such as pits and silos. B. Capable of working in a dusty environment, as dust and spilled grain products are often present during repair situations. C. Comfortable bending, kneeling, and walking. D. Perform occasional lifting of up to 75lbs throughout an 8-hour shift. Mechanized lifting devices should be used for heavier items.
