Trades Apprentice - Maintenance Repairer 2

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to ensure the physical, operational and financial integrity of the regional flood risk management system, in southeastern Louisiana as a defense against floods and storm surge from hurricanes. We accomplish this mission by working with local, regional, state and federal partners to plan, design, construct, operate and maintain projects that will reduce the probability and risk of flooding for the residents and businesses within our jurisdiction.

ABOUT THIS POSITION

The incumbent will work under the supervision of the Maintenance Regional Director, Facilities Maintenance Manager A, the Master HVAC/Refrigeration Mechanic, the Electrician Specialist Leader and the Plumber/Pipefitter Master. Job Duties:

Assists by performing facility inspections and making repairs to buildings, grounds, out buildings, street lighting, mechanical repairs to all operational equipment, such as, a/c & heat systems and any other items needed for daily operational use. The incumbent will work with the a/c & heat system and perform the detailed daily routine of checking and making notes of all chillers, water towers and air handler units. Including all pumps for chilled water and cooling tower water, checking gauges for proper pressures and temperatures for optimum operational use. Making notes for records and making any adjustments as needed. Performing monthly filter cleaning/changing and annual pm routines. Includes maintenance on ice makers and shop equipment. The incumbent may provide plumbing services, including minor repairs, preventive maintenance and quarterly inspections of flood control valves and completing valve maintenance inspection reports.

NOTE:

The Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority - East (SLFPA-E) is an emergency-oriented agency. Part of the SLFPAE's mission is to protect the residents of the east-bank of Jefferson Parish, St. Bernard and the east-bank of Orleans from tidal surge, wind-driven water and river flooding. In emergencies during Mississippi River flooding and Hurricane/Tropical storm events, the incumbent will be on call and must report for duty if so required and remain on duty in such situations until released from duty by the Appointing Authority.
