Position:
As a Maintenance Worker you will be responsible for the maintenance, repairs and construction of various project and public use facilities, wildlife habitat maintenance and restoration. In addition, you will be responsible for general maintenance to grounds and-buildings. Responsibilities Construct, maintain, and repair various project and public use facilities: floating boat docks, pump houses, restrooms, flood control structures, tables, fire pits, roadways, log booms, sidewalks, boat ramps, shop facilities, play structures. Construct and repair project signs, boat docks and wood forms for concrete when relocating or building structures. Paint operating equipment and machinery, buildings, restrooms, signs. Perform basic brazing and arc welding in the modification of equipment, construction of gates, and fabrication of brackets. Maintenance work includes repairing interior and exterior trim, doors, windows, gutters, shingle roofs, floors. Mix and pour concrete, build fences, repair hand tolls and plumbing systems. Cut grass, prune trees and shrubs, load and unload materials and supplies, collect trash and garbage, clean restrooms, remove floating debris from the reservoir and shoreline.
Operate and maintain miscellaneous equipment:
mowers, brush chipper, stump chipper, gas powered hand tools including chain saws, brush cutters, air compressors, power saws and miscellaneous power hand tools. Operate and maintain a variety of vehicles: tractors, loaders, backhoes, dump trucks, mowers, 2WD and 4WD trucks, trucks up to 5 ton or tilt trailers. Collect and record water level and weather data.
Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Who May Apply:
US Citizens Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualification at the WG-06: Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Maintenance Worker (Motor Vehicle Operator) without more than normal supervision. Must have the ability to perform common maintenance and construction tasks such as: operate common hand tools and measuring devices of the carpentry, or painting trades to perform simple maintenance tasks. In addition, have the ability to operate motor vehicle, transport equipment/material to job site in preparation of work and clean-up after completion of the work assignment. Must have the ability to work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Minimum Qualification at the WG-07: Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Maintenance Worker (Motor Vehicle Operator) ~ without more than normal supervision. Must have the ability to perform common Maintenance Worker tasks such as: the use and operation of common hand and power tools, equipment, and/or measuring devices of the carpentry, plumbing, and/or painting trades.
