$15.50 per hour working up to 30 hours per week

Student Non-Exempt Summary:
The Student Maintenance Assistant is a student leadership position that supports the Thurgood Marshall & Legacy Hall facilities team with day-to-day operations, summer turnover preparation, and preventative maintenance initiatives across the community. This role is responsible for assisting with unit readiness, vendor support, grounds upkeep, and general maintenance tasks to help ensure apartments and common areas are prepared for resident occupancy.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist with unit inspections and document maintenance needs through the work order system. Support the facilities management team with unit turnover preparation to ensure units are move-in ready for incoming residents. Perform hands-on tasks related to unit preparation, repairs, and general upkeep as assigned. Escort vendors, contractors, and other authorized personnel to apartments, project sites, and other designated areas as needed. Assist with preventative maintenance tasks throughout the community, including but not limited to: Replacing air filters Replacing bedroom batteries Replacing thermostat batteries Replacing ceiling tiles Assist with distribution and delivery of supplies, materials, and other items to apartments and site locations. Perform general cleaning and upkeep of grounds, common areas, and other site spaces as needed. Provide operational support to the Facilities Management team during the summer peak season. Maintain a safe, professional, and service-oriented presence while working in resident and staff spaces. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Current student at Morgan State University student. Ability to work 30 hours per week, Monday through Friday, based on operational needs. Strong work ethic and willingness to learn maintenance tasks. Ability to perform physical tasks in indoor and outdoor environments. Strong customer service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate professionally and provide helpful, respectful support to residents, staff, vendors, and guests. Ability to move and lift 50lbs and navigate up and down stairs.
