Position Overview We are looking for a reliable, proactive, and versatile Maintenance Assistant to help keep our facility and grounds safe, functional, and beautiful. In this role, you will perform a variety of general maintenance and repair work—from minor troubleshooting to preventative care—all while contributing to a positive, respectful, and patient-centered environment. What You'll Do (Key Responsibilities):
Facility Maintenance & Repairs:
Handle general carpentry, minor plumbing (sinks, toilets, drains, faucets), painting, floor care, and the repair of basic equipment and appliances.
Groundskeeping:
Keep our grounds clean, orderly, and beautiful (mowing, trimming, and essential snow removal). Willingness to work outside in inclement weather when necessary.
Life Safety & Compliance:
Understand and operate emergency life safety equipment and monitoring panels. Participate in life safety drills, maintain logbooks, and complete daily round documentation.
Preventative Care:
Help identify, create, and maintain our preventative maintenance program to catch issues before they arise.
Resident & Team Support:
Help move and assemble furniture for residents and families; assist with housekeeping or odor control tasks when needed to maintain a pristine environment.
Tools & Inventory:
Safely operate a variety of hand and power tools and maintain a proper inventory of essential supplies (paint, bulbs, parts, etc.).
On-Call Rotation:
Participate in an on-call rotation to ensure our facility is always supported. What We Are Looking For (Requirements):
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of building maintenance or related trade experience.
License:
Possession of a valid Maine driver's license.
Independence & Communication:
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Must be able to read, write, and communicate clearly in English.
Tech Savvy:
Ability to use (or quickly learn) facility computer programs, email, voice mail, and internet research.

A process-improvement mindset, a willingness to learn, and the ability to deal tactfully and harmoniously with staff, residents, and family members.
