Job Description

Looking for weekend hours plus in the Rockland/Camden/Thomaston/Warren vicinity? Owls Head Transportation Museum is seeking a weekend Maintenance Assistant, with some additional days from time to time, up to 32 hours weekly.
POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Assistant is responsible for duties relating primarily to upkeep of the museum's facilities. This is a part-time, on-site, every-weekend position, with possibility for additional hours/days as needed by the Museum, especially during the summer event season.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assists as needed with daily cleaning of assigned areas, including trash removal and recycling, dusting desks, tables and other furniture, dust mop hallways, vacuum carpets, wash floors, clean and replenish restrooms, wash entry glass, vacuum and operate self-powered floor cleaning machine, spot clean/clean woodwork and walls as necessary, spot clean/clean carpets as necessary, dust mopboards/doors as necessary, clean windows/blinds as necessary, polishing woodwork in the Boardroom, etc. 2. Shovels and de-ices walkways and other access points as needed. 3. Reports issues to the Maintenance Supervisor regarding necessary repairs, needed supplies, safety concerns, etc., and works to resolve the issues. 4. May respond, as negotiated with the Maintenance Supervisor, to security alarms. Ensures building security by closing and securing all windows and doors, setting alarms, etc. 5. Performs other duties as assigned and occasionally assists with light maintenance as agreed upon with the Maintenance Supervisor.
WORK SCHEDULE
This is an every-weekend position (16 hours), with possibility of occasional additional days when needed. There is potential for more hours/days during the summer event season.
QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED FOR POSITION
Education, Experience, and Skill Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or the equivalent, or the equivalent in related work experience and the skills necessary to perform the duties of the position.
  • Possesses at least two years of related experience, preferably in building maintenance and cleaning.
  • Must pass a background check.
  • Possesses an active and valid driver's license.

$18.00 - $19.50 per hour
