AIRPORT MAINTENANCE WORKER - SANFORD SEACOAST REGIONAL AIRPORT
Take Your Career to New Heights - Join the City of Sanford as an Airport Maintenance Worker! Are you ready to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where no two days are the same? Do you want to be part of a dedicated team helping keep planes flying safely while maintaining a vital regional transportation hub? The City of Sanford is seeking a motivated and dependable Airport Maintenance Worker to join our team at the Sanford Seacoast Regional Airport! This is more than a maintenance job—it's a rewarding opportunity to support aviation, help protect critical infrastructure, and serve the public with pride. You'll work on a wide variety of systems, equipment, and facilities while gaining valuable hands-on experience and training in airport operations and maintenance. This position will be responsible for the following:- Maintain and improve airport buildings, runways, taxiways, lighting systems, ramps, and signage
- Operate and service a range of vehicles and heavy equipment—including loaders, tractors, snow blowers, and sweepers
- Monitor and report airport conditions, issue NOTAMs, and ensure safety and compliance with FAA standards
- Communicate with pilots and airport users via aviation radio
- Help implement wildlife hazard and stormwater management plans
- Participate in emergency operations and assist distressed aircraft
- Maintain the appearance of airport grounds and support seasonal operations like snow and ice control The qualifications required for this position are as follows:
- High school diploma or GED (post-secondary training is a plus!)
- Ability to obtain a State of Maine Commercial Applicator's License (6B General Vegetation Management) and Herbicide Applicator's License within 6 months of hire
- A valid State of Maine Class II/B CDL and a clean driving record
- A team-first attitude, problem-solving skills, and willingness to work nights, weekends, holidays, and be on-call when needed This position is a fantastic fit for someone who loves working outdoors, enjoys hands-on mechanical tasks, and takes pride in contributing to the safe and efficient operation of an essential public facility.
