The City of Grandville seeks a qualified individual to fill the position of full-time, entry-level Maintenance One position at the Department of Public Works. This position will primarily work as part of fleet maintenance. However, additional work may include assignments related to maintenance operations in streets, parks, cemetery, water distribution system, sewer collection system and City facilities. A complete job description is attached below.Minimum Qualifications include:
high school diploma (or equivalent) and two years experience in equipment and vehicle maintenance or a related field. Valid Michigan Driver's License, CDL class B endorsement (or be able to obtain one within six months). A qualified candidate will start at $23.91/hour in accordance with the association contract. Non-Supervisory General Summary Under the general supervision of public works foreman carries out assignments related to all areas of responsibility in the Public Works Department, including streets, parks, cemetery, water, sewer, and buildings. Essential Job Functions An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the duties which the employee may be expected to perform. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform, each essential function satisfactorily. 1. Assist in the maintenance of all city equipment. 2. Operates vehicles and equipment requiring a CDL to haul materials, sweep streets, and plow snow. 3. Operates riding mowers and related equipment involved in grounds maintenance, 4. Operates small power, and hand tools to perform repairs and maintenance tasks in areas of responsibility. 5. Performs labor-related tasks in assisting with street maintenance, water main repairs, sewer system repairs, and building and grounds maintenance. 6. Performs other tasks as needed. Ability to perform labor intensive tasks, and to work outdoors in all weather conditions. 6. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions 7.
