Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the the Property Manager, the Maintenace Assistant is assists with all functions related to the safe, effective maintenance/facility operation of YMCA Camp Timbers. The Maintenance Assistant ensures the activities of the camp facility and grounds to ensure all necessary systems are clean, well-maintained, with priorities focused on safety and outstanding camper/guest experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provide routine and proactive maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting at camp related to equipment, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, groundskeeping, and pest control. Assist with the development and implementation of monthly and annual project lists, as well as ongoing Needs Assessment lists. Inspect and maintain camp machinery and equipment as required for safe operation Provide input in development of camp maintenance Assist with expenditures and identify cost-saving measures as related to all facility operations including implementing energy-saving measures to reduce utility costs Purchase and inventory supplies, tool, and equipment necessary to job as directed by Property Manager Be alert to and address immediately any unsafe conditions, consult with Property Manger and/or Program Director regarding safety concerns / hazards to ensure safe delivery of camping program Work alongside project volunteers at camp Supervise upkeep of current facilities and grounds Perform other duties as assigned by the Property Manager and/or Program Director or Executive Director

QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or its equivalent required with two years full time or equivalent maintenance and management experience. Prior facility management and supervisory experience is strongly preferred. Experience in building trades including but not limited to: carpentry, roofing, plumbing, electrical, landscaping. Strong mathematical and analytical ability is necessary. Experienced knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. Must demonstrate organizational and time management skills. Ability to exercise good judgment in making contingency decisions is required. Ability to work well with other staff members and key volunteers is required. Incumbent must possess initiative as a self-starter and be reliable, resourceful, flexible, courteous, and a strong team worker.
ADA Requirements:
Working in a recreational facility setting requires sitting, standing, and walking or active work. Position requires lifting to 50 pounds, reaching above the shoulders, bending at the waist, climbing stairs, squatting, kneeling, and crawling depending on activities scheduled. Individuals must be able to grasp supplies and equipment, communicate clearly via phone, email, and in person, and be able to work in a climate-controlled environment including fluorescent lighting and air conditioning.
