Work will be performed under the general direction of the Street Lead Worker, Environmental Engineering Technician, and other full-time Maintenance Staff. The Environmental Resources Maintenance Helper position will receive on-the-job training to learn stormwater and natural resource management maintenance skills and put those skills into practice completing a wide variety of projects through the City.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

The Environmental Resources Maintenance Helper position is responsible for performing a wide variety of routine maintenance and inspection of stormwater, natural resources, and environmental resources components within City properties, including street right-of-way, parks, and stormwater basins. Work entails assisting with removal of sediment, vegetation, and debris to maintain proper drainage functions of the City's stormwater system; maintaining raingardens, buffer areas, and natural/native planting areas through mowing, trimming, weeding, and herbicide application; documenting inspection of erosion control on a variety of public and private projects; and assisting staff with surveying and documenting location of stormwater and natural resource infrastructure components through the use of a GPS unit and GIS software programs.
