POSITION TITLE

260-days, 8 hours per day; Non-Exempt

REPORTS TO

Director/Assistant Director of Maintenance and Athletic Director

POSITION SUMMARY

Maintains artificial turf, grass fields, and associated grounds and equipment for the district. Performs general maintenance and custodial duties in the district.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Communicates, collaborates, and cooperates with colleagues, supervisors, staff and students. Operates and maintains in basic working order all types of lawn care and maintenance equipment. Maintain artificial turf fields with powered and manual equipment. Performs lining grass fields for multiple sport uses. Works with outside contractors to maintain grass fields in accordance with the regiment set forth by the district, and outside contractors. Snow removal, including but not limited to plowing, salting, and hand shoveling. Responsible for the cleaning of concession stands, press boxes, bleachers, gyms and all other athletic facilities. Assists with basic maintenance repairs throughout district facilities and grounds. Shall assist as a district custodial substitute. Ensures prompt and proper completion of tasks. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of clienteles. Physical stamina to handle challenging work schedules. Physical stamina to work in extreme weather conditions. Respect for all stakeholders. Ability to exercise sound judgment. Calm demeanor for handling stressful situations. Shall have the ability to effectively communicate and work well with students, parents, support, and instructional staff. Experience operating zero turn lawn mower. Basic mechanical knowledge.

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION

: Ability to read and write. Ability to perform moderate to heavy manual labor. Ability to perform daily tasks with minimum supervision. Ability to operate power equipment. Ability to work well with others. Ability to follow written directions. Demonstrated aptitude for the work to be performed. Valid Missouri Driver's License.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk, hear, and utilize manual dexterity. The employee is required to reach with hands and arms, to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Occasionally the employee will lift and/or move up to 90 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, the ability to adjust focus, and depth perception. The employee must independently transport him/herself to various sites in the District. The employee must be able to work both inside and outside in all types of weather.
