Shop helper supports daily shop operations by assisting mechanics with routine servicing, repair tasks and assist with component handling. Helping with worn out parts replacements. Managing tools, shop equipment, hand tools, run parts. Keep shop clean, safe and compliant. Help track and restock oil, shop essentials and hardware. Washing equipment and vehicles. Driving and parking vehicles in yard. Assisting with building maintenance as needed. Tool Management-Cleaning, organizing, and maintaining shop equipment and hand tools. Parts Running-Retrieving parts from local suppliers or the stockroom so mechanics don't have to leave the work area. Workspace Maintenance-Cleaning up spilled oils, sweeping floors, and disposing of waste to keep the shop safe and compliant. Inventory-Helps Parts Manager Track and restocking consumables like motor oil, shop towels, and basic hardware. Routine Servicing-Performing basic tasks like oil changes, tire rotations, trailer repairs and battery testing under the direct supervision of a journeyman mechanic. Component Handling-Assisting with the lifting, holding, or heavy lifting of large parts like transmissions, tires, rims, hubs and engine parts. Vehicle Prep-Washing and pressure-washing equipment or vehicles before repairs begin or before seating a truck. Vehicle Movement-Driving and parking company vehicles in the shop or yard. Disassembly/Reassembly-Helping to dismantle worn-out parts and reassembling components according to exact specifications. Building Maintenance-Assistingbuilding Maintenance Technician as needed. General Requirements:
Education:
High School Diploma or Equivalent. Trade school is a plus.
Skills:
Basic mechanical aptitude and skills. Ability to communicate effectively, (written and verbal). Mechanically inclined with a willingness to learn. Trainable and dependable. Welding, operate forklift and knowledge of DOT regulations is a plus but will train.
Knowledge:
Has knowledge of trailers and repair of components.
Experience:
Willing to work hands to learn in the field of truck/trailer repair but willing train the right candidate.
Scope of Responsibility:
Follows established procedures and policies, but may use some discretion in identifying, researching, and resolving problems. May prioritize tasks and time, with direction of supervisor. Errors have impact on organizations financial performance.
