  • $54,868 Determined on Qualifications (Grade 7) Supervisor(s) : Operations Superintendent; Foreman I Position Overview The City of Creve Coeur Public Works Department is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Maintenance Worker
  • Streets/Parks.
This is a full-time, non-exempt position offering a competitive compensation and benefits package, including: Paid vacation and sick leave Paid holidays Tuition reimbursement Health, dental, and vision insurance Disability insurance Defined-benefit retirement plan through the Missouri Local Government Employees Retirement System (LAGERS) This position performs a variety of maintenance, construction, and repair activities related to streets, sidewalks, stormwater infrastructure, parks, and City facilities. The successful candidate will be safety-conscious, dependable, and committed to providing excellent service to the community. Essential Functions Infrastructure Maintenance and Construction (30%) Perform construction, maintenance, and repair of streets, sidewalks, stormwater structures, and other public infrastructure. Assist with park maintenance activities. Utilize proper tree and shrub pruning techniques. Safely operate departmental tools and equipment. Mix and apply horticultural chemicals according to manufacturer recommendations and safety standards. Leaf, Limb, and Debris Removal (20%) Remove leaves, limbs, and other debris efficiently and safely. Follow assigned routes and established procedures. Maintain awareness of crew safety and work cooperatively with team members. Emergency Response and Snow Operations (10%) Respond to emergency call-outs in a timely manner. Follow Public Works emergency response procedures. Assist coworkers with completion of assigned snow routes as needed. Equipment Operation and Maintenance (10%) Operate equipment only for its intended purpose. Clean, inspect, and maintain tools and equipment according to manufacturer recommendations and department standards. Ensure equipment and tools are properly stored after use. Safety and Traffic Control (10%) Utilize proper traffic control and flagging procedures in accordance with the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD). Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE). Identify and report unsafe roadway, equipment, or facility conditions to supervisors. Specialized Skills and Knowledge (5%) Apply specialized or advanced skills that benefit departmental operations. Share knowledge and assist in training coworkers when appropriate. Professionalism, Communication, and Teamwork (15%) Demonstrate a commitment to public service and uphold the City's standards of Character-Driven Professionalism. Build and maintain positive working relationships with coworkers, residents, contractors, and other stakeholders. Communicate effectively, listen actively, and provide prompt assistance. Treat all individuals with dignity, respect, and professionalism. Demonstrate accountability, problem-solving abilities, and a positive attitude. Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent required. One (1) year of related maintenance, construction, public works, landscaping, or similar experience preferred. Licenses and Certifications Valid Driver's License and safe driving record Preferred Qualifications Experience operating and maintaining heavy equipment. Welding and fabrication skills for equipment and infrastructure repairs. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Strong verbal communication skills and ability to interact professionally with City staff and the public. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Sound judgment and problem-solving skills. Commitment to maintaining a positive, productive, and safe work environment. Physical Requirements Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 100 pounds. Ability to walk up to two miles per day. Sufficient strength, stamina, and manual dexterity to operate hand tools, power tools, and equipment. Ability to stoop, bend, climb, crawl, and perform other physical activities necessary to maintain infrastructure, facilities, and equipment. Ability to work indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather and temperature conditions. Attendance Expectations Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position. Employees are expected to report to work as scheduled and complete assigned duties in a timely manner, except when utilizing approved leave in accordance with City policies.
