Job Description

Role The primary responsibility will be the maintenance and repair of all vehicles used by Tri-County CAP Transit, to ensure safe, and reliable transportation in a cost-effective manner, within the scope and ability of the facility and the technician. This is a safety sensitive position and requires pre-employment and random Drug and Alcohol testing.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
Performs daily general maintenance duties: including moving furniture, boxes, etc., setting up for special events, building checks for security. Performs routine preventative maintenance (greasing equipment, oiling motors, changing belts, changing air filters, changing light bulbs, etc.). Performs building and equipment maintenance duties including rough carpentry and plumbing work, plastering and cement work, painting and minor electrical repair work. May perform some routine custodial duties and/or grounds maintenance tasks, such as operating power mowers, edgers, irrigation equipment, and related devices. Attends training sessions required by the supervisor. Performs other job related duties as assigned. Maintain agency vehicles for operating on a regular basis through preventive maintenance and major repairs.
Performance Measures:
1. Positive vs Negative results on maintenance paperwork on a DOT or FTA audit. 2. Number of repairs needing to be sent out to other repairs shops. 3. Outcome of annual building review in accordance with the Building Maintenance Plan. 4. Follows appropriate FTA procurement procedures on purchase made annually 5. Number of cost saving measures implemented 6. Monthly Expense report reviewed for accuracy on time 7. Follows Manufacturer's preventative maintenance guidelines as directed.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Experience:
Three years to five years of similar or related experience.
Education:
(1) A two-year college degree or (2) completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school or (3) completion of specialized training courses conducted by equipment vendors or (4) job specific skills acquired through on-the-job training or apprenticeship program.
Interpersonal Skills:
A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and is usually of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating or influencing others. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others.
Other Skills:
General maintenance experience on diesel and gas operated vehicles and some familiarity with vehicle electronic systems. Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills are necessary. Must have or have the ability to obtain a Medical Card.
Physical:
Requires hand-eye coordination, manual and mental dexterity. Ability to distinguish letters and symbols. Requires the use of office and garage equipment. Normal vision range. Ability to perform much bending, stooping, stretching, and listing. This is a safety sensitive position requiring pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing.
Work Environment:
Majority of the work is performed in the vehicle maintenance facility. Must be able to work independently.
Pay:
$20.00 - $22.00 per hour
