Shift:
Rotating The Building Maintenance Worker is responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, functional, and comfortable environment for residents, staff, and visitors. This position performs routine maintenance, repairs, inspections, and preventive maintenance activities throughout the nursing home under the direction of the Maintenance Manager. The Building Maintenance Worker ensures that building systems, equipment, and grounds are maintained in compliance with applicable safety regulations and healthcare facility standards.
Responsibilities:
Perform routine maintenance and repair of building systems, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and general facility repairs. Perform and assist in routine ground keeping tasks and maintenance of the grounds, parking areas and driveways. Respond promptly to maintenance requests, work assignments and work orders. Assist with preventive maintenance programs for facility equipment and systems. Repair and maintain doors, windows, locks, furniture, fixtures, and equipment. Follow all infection control, safety, fire prevention, and emergency preparedness procedures. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs. Assist in lifting and moving heavy equipment and supplies. Ensure all equipment is in proper working order and promptly report any malfunctions, breakdown of equipment to supervisor. Attend and participate in training programs as required in support of the department functions Maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information. Ensure all residents are treated fairly and with kindness, dignity, and respect
Experience and Skills:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of two (2) years of maintenance, facilities, or building repair experience preferred. Experience in a healthcare, nursing home, or assisted living environment preferred. Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and mechanical systems. Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment safely. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to read and follow maintenance manuals, safety procedures, and work orders. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong attention to detail and commitment to resident safety.
