Job Summary:

At Cardella Waste, the Mechanic Helper supports mechanics in the inspection, maintenance, and repair of vehicles and equipment. This role assists with basic mechanical tasks, keeps the work area organized, and ensures tools and parts are properly handled to support efficient shop operations. The position also requires travel and driving between company locations as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist mechanics with vehicle and equipment inspections, maintenance, and repairs Perform basic tasks such as cleaning parts, changing fluids, and preparing tools and equipment Move vehicles or equipment in and out of the shop safely Organize and maintain tools, parts, and work areas Help identify and retrieve required parts and supplies Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean and safe work environment Support preventative maintenance tasks as directed Perform other duties as assigned by lead mechanic or supervisor

Requirements:

Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required Prior experience in a shop, warehouse, or maintenance environment Basic understanding of mechanical systems preferred Familiarity with basic hand and power tools Ability to follow instructions and work in a team environment Physically able to lift, bend, stand for extended periods, and work in varying conditions Strong attention to safety and detail Willingness to learn and develop mechanical skills Physical Requirements Standing, bending, lifting, and walking for extended periods Exposure to outdoor weather conditions and shop environments Clean and maintain the maintenance shop and wash bays Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and orderly condition Follow all company safety policies and procedures
