Calvary United Methodist Church, located in the heart of Latham, NY, is a vibrant and welcoming congregation dedicated to serving our community through worship, fellowship, and outreach. We are seeking a dedicated and responsible individual to join our team as a Part-Time Church Sexton.

Position Overview:

The Part-Time Church Sexton will play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness, functionality, and overall appearance of our church facilities. This position reports directly to the Lead Pastor and will collaborate with other church trustees and staff members to ensure a welcoming environment for all church members and visitors.

Responsibilities:

Perform routine cleaning and maintenance tasks throughout the church premises, including worship spaces, fellowship halls, restrooms, and common areas. Set up and prepare rooms for various events, meetings, and worship services. Assist in basic maintenance tasks such as light bulb replacement, minor repairs, and general upkeep of the facilities. Ensure the grounds are well-maintained, including snow removal and landscaping duties as needed. Collaborate with other staff members to coordinate facility needs for special events and services. Maintain a safe and organized environment for all occupants by identifying and addressing potential hazards. Monitor and report any necessary repairs or maintenance requirements to the Facilities Manager.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent. Prior experience in custodial or facilities maintenance roles preferred. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Basic knowledge of general maintenance and cleaning practices. Physical capability to perform tasks that may require lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.

Schedule:

The Part-Time Church Sexton position is for 18 hours per week. The specific schedule will be determined in collaboration with the Lead Pastor and Trustee Chair and may include weekends and occasional evenings to support church activities.

Pay:

$18.00 - $20.00 per hour
