POSITION
Grounds and General Maintenance Worker
DATE POSITION TO BE FILLED
As soon as possible
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Mow and trim lawns and shrubbery, using mowers and hand and power trimmers, and clear debris from the grounds. Remove snow from sidewalks, driveways, and parking areas using snowplows, blowers, and shovels, and spread snow-melting chemicals. Empty and maintain outside trash receptacles around campus. Move furniture, equipment, and supplies. Wash windows inside and outside where accessible, as scheduled. Assist co-workers with general mechanics, working security, transporting students and staff when needed, and running errands as assigned. Deliver mail and packages around campus as needed. Provide general building maintenance. For the health and safety of those on our campus, promptly report to the supervisor all damages to school property and all items needing repair. Assume any other assignments that are reasonable and appropriate.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Pre-employment physical examination and verification of good health by a licensed physician. Basic knowledge of building trades (i.e. electrical, plumbing, carpentry, etc). Ability to read and interpret plans, diagrams, and architectural blueprints and specifications. Ability to work independently. Ability to respond to last-minute requests in a professional manner. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to effectively communicate using American Sign Language and English. Intermediate ASL skill level preferred.
