Full Job Description Overview:

The Sexton maintains the church facility and grounds, supporting the programs of the church, and additional groups who use the facility. The Sexton will work in collaboration with the Pastor, the property committee, and will coordinate work with outside contractors/vendors as needed.

Qualifications:

• Candidate should have a general knowledge of mechanical systems (heating, plumbing, etc.) and facility maintenance.
• Ability to lift and move at least 60 lbs.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Attention to detail and record-keeping skills.
• Proactive about facility maintenance.
• Takes pride in the appearance and smooth functioning of the church building and grounds

Responsibilities:

• Regular cleaning of heavily trafficked areas and general grounds maintenance.
• Maintains inventory and orders adequate building supplies, custodial products, and paper goods.
• Keeps facility in working order using troubleshooting techniques and performing repairs as necessary.
• Ensures general maintenance and appearance of church property and facilities and completes preventative maintenance checklists.
• Coordinates with and escorts outside contractors and other visitors as needed.
• Sets ups and takes down tables and chairs for events, coordinating with other church staff and outside groups.
