$19-$21 per hour The Music Conservatory of Westchester, a nonprofit community music school located in the heart of White Plains, seeks two reliable Maintenance Associates, each at 20 hours per week, to be responsible for daily cleaning of the school's building as well as handling light maintenance tasks. Position one will cover weekday mornings Monday to Thursday. Position two will cover Friday to Sunday. The 35,000 sq. ft. building is comprised mainly of music teaching studios and classrooms, two dance studios, concert hall, recording studio, administrative offices, and lobby seating areas. We are seeking an individual with experience cleaning commercial buildings, performing general maintenance tasks, is detail-oriented, well organized, and has good physical stamina.Responsibilities include:
Clean and sanitize restrooms using established practices and procedures. Clean, dust, and wipe furniture. Sweep, mop or vacuum floors on a regular schedule. Empty/clean wastebaskets and trash containers. Refill soap dispensers and replace paper goods in restrooms and kitchen areas. Use and maintain assigned equipment including vacuums, brooms, mops, etc. for the cleaning and general maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, handrails, furniture, etc. Follow instructions regarding the use of chemicals and supplies. Move furniture, equipment, and supplies on an incidental basis for special events.- Ensure that all studio and classroom equipment is in its assigned location.
- Remove debris from parking lot and outdoor property as needed, including snow removal on walking paths and sidewalks.
- Gather and prepare trash for sanitation collection.
- Assist with general maintenance tasks as needed; perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Minimum of two years of janitorial experience is required.
- Ability to communicate clearly with staff and work as part of a team.
- Must be able to lift, push or pull 50 lbs.
- Capable of vigorous physical activity, including bending, stooping, kneeling.
