Job Description

We are seeking a motivated Mechanic in Training to join our Water Reclamation Facility team. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in developing hands-on mechanical and maintenance skills while working in a critical public utility environment. In this role, you will assist with preventive and corrective maintenance on water and wastewater treatment equipment, machinery, and facility systems. You will work alongside experienced maintenance professionals, gaining valuable experience in mechanical systems, pumps, motors, generators, plumbing, pipefitting, and equipment repair.
Pay:
$20.00 per hour
What You'll Do:
Assist with preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical and electro-mechanical equipment Help repair, replace, and maintain pumps, motors, bearings, chains, and related machinery Install, remove, and service equipment and facility components Operate hoists, lifts, tools, and maintenance equipment safely Assist with plumbing, pipefitting, painting, and general facility maintenance Support emergency power generation equipment maintenance and operation Maintain maintenance records and utilize computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) Follow safety procedures and work instructions while supporting daily facility operations
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required Valid driver's license required Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn maintenance and repair skills Ability to work safely around machinery, tools, and industrial equipment Basic computer skills or willingness to learn maintenance management software
Preferred Qualifications:
Trade school coursework in mechanics, electrical systems, welding, fabrication, or related fields Experience with vehicles, farm equipment, pumps, motors, generators, or industrial machinery Knowledge of combustion engines, electric motors, and maintenance practices Familiarity with water/wastewater operations is a plus
Physical Requirements:
