Custodian/Maintenance Worker Reports To:

Facilities Manager Position Summary Marist Catholic High School is seeking a reliable and skilled Custodian/Maintenance worker to maintain and enhance the beauty, safety, and functionality of our campus grounds. This position plays an important role in supporting the school's mission by creating a welcoming, well-maintained environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Performs a variety of cleaning tasks, including dusting, cobweb removal, vacuuming carpets and mats, sweeping, damp mopping of assigned classrooms and hallways, and stripping and waxing floors during assigned periods. Clean and disinfect assigned restrooms, locker rooms, drinking fountains, and other specialized facilities, such as the weight room, theater and athletic training rooms. Cleans and polishes mirrors and restroom hardware. Restock restroom supplies as required. Collect trash and waste paper and deposit in appropriate waste or recycle receptacles. Safely operate all custodial equipment, hand and power tools. Perform cleaning and light maintenance duties as assigned. Qualifications A minimum of six months of custodial experience or any combination of experience and education which provides the desired skills, knowledge, and ability required to perform the job. Experience in the use of floor stripping equipment and waxing floors. Knowledge of equipment, tools, materials, supplies and chemicals required for custodial operations. Ability to identify hazards and is familiar with safety regulations. Ability to perform a full range of custodial duties using hand and power tool equipment. Ability to work independently. Ability to follow written and oral instructions. Ability to lift heavy furniture and equipment up to 50 pounds. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, in a faith- based environment. Working Conditions While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, talk, sit, hear, and use repetitive motions of the hands/wrists. Employee must be able to lift or carry furniture, equipment, and supplies; perform strenuous walking, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing, climbing, twisting, grasping, and reaching overhead; work with chemicals; tolerate exposure to dust; navigate slippery and uneven walking surfaces; and lift and move items up to 30 pounds Mission Fit Marist Catholic High School seeks employees who respect and support the mission, values, and teachings of the Catholic Church and the educational philosophy of St. Marcellin Champagnat.
