- managing and maintaining trees including pruning, trimming and removal of hazard trees; Landscape Maintenance
- managing and maintaining landscaped areas throughout the City; Public Safety
- mitigating hazards to the public in regards to trees, vegetation and other areas of assignment; Community Engagement
- communicating to the public regarding tree care, maintenance and vegetation management; Equipment Operation
- operating an array of tools and equipment for tree care and vegetation management operations, including but not limited to chainsaw, aerial lifts and CDL vehicles; Record Keeping
- using different asset management software programs and equipment to track and record assigned tasks and monitor work progress.

Using tools and heavy equipment to manage and maintain vegetative right of way and landscape areas from April through October within the City to adhere to City code and mitigate hazards to pedestrian and motoring public.PURPOSE STATEMENT
Under the direction of the assigned supervisor, the Senior Transportation Operations Technician performs lead-worker level maintenance and/or operational activities in the assigned area of responsibility. Duties as assigned may include providing customer service; performing routine maintenance and repair of equipment, infrastructure, and/or related items; operating motorized vehicles and equipment; inputting data into computerized systems; and preparing logs and records. As assigned, incumbents exercise lead worker duties over assigned departmental personnel.DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
(For use in a job series only) Positions in this class performs lead-worker level maintenance and/or operational activities including providing customer service, performing routine maintenance and repair of equipment and infrastructure. This class differs from the lower-class Transportation Operations Technician and the higher-class Transportation Operations Supervisor that perform supervisory level activities and the work of subordinates in support of maintenance and operations activities and directives in roadway maintenance, signs, and markings.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND TASKS
The following list of functions, duties, and tasks is typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform other closely related or department-specific functions, duties, and tasks from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices. Performs routine maintenance, installation, repair, cleaning, and/or preparation of equipment, systems, infrastructure, and/or other items related to assigned area. Operates motorized vehicles and equipment, machinery, and/or tools in the repair, maintenance, and support of assigned areas. Serves as a lead worker over assigned personnel responsible for day-to-day coordination of related issues including directing and reviewing work, providing training, participating in performance evaluations, monitoring time and attendance, and answering technical questions. Performs inspections of roads, signals, signs, markings, vehicles, and/or equipment to identify potential safety hazards and/or the need for maintenance or repairs. Sets up and monitors assigned work area; prepares site and equipment for necessary repairs; maintains traffic control and safety measures as required. Evaluates work and equipment requirements; initiates maintenance actions or notifies/submits work requests for appropriate services required; purchases maintenance supplies as needed and within applicable guidelines. Receives, reviews, prepares, processes, or maintains various forms, reports, reference materials, task sheets, records and/or other documents. Provides input and actively participates in Department Operations Center planning and execution of emergency response duties during emergency events. This position will at times require work to be performed during extended shifts, nighttime operations, weekends, and on-call assignment and/or assistance. This position may involve travel for participation in organization events, as well as training opportunities. Manages records and information in any format, in accordance with applicable statutes, regulations and City policy, guidance and records retention schedule.OTHER DUTIES

High school diploma or GED; and three years of related work experience in vegetation management including lead worker responsibilities; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. LICENSE(S) /CERTIFICATIONS:
Valid, current Driver's License and safe driving record Class A Commercial Driver's License with applicable endorsements Oregon Department of Agriculture- Pesticide "Applicators" License (based on area of assignment) APWA Road Scholar
