Job Description

The City of Phoenix is seeking a Public Works Parks Maintenance Worker to provide support and assist in the maintenance and repair of parks, grounds, and building facilities. This position will work together with the Public Works department in the duties of the standard operating policies and procedures of the Department. This position maintains close working relationships with other personnel, outside agencies, and the general public.
Hours:
Full-time, non-exempt.
Starting Salary:
$3,437/month; range comprises six steps culminating in a salary of $4,390/month. (To be increased July 1, 2026)

THE PERSON
We are seeking an employee to perform skilled and semi-skilled manual labor for maintaining and repairing the City's parks, grounds, and building facilities. The candidate will also be responsible for maintaining and repairing playground equipment, including performing safety inspections. The ideal candidate will have a valid Oregon driver's license and must have the ability to obtain a Class B Oregon driver's license. Candidate must possess the ability to: work independently as well as in a group setting; perform multiple tasks with continuity in a timely manner; exercise good judgment; communicate effectively; interpret and apply departmental policies and procedures, state laws, city ordinances, and operating and maintenance instructions; perform customer service with courtesy, tact, and diplomacy; consistently meet deadlines; and establish and maintain effective relationships with internal and external partners.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
In order to be considered for this position, applicants must have a combination of education and experience equivalent to that outlined below, plus any other listed screening qualifications.
Education:
High School Diploma or GED Certifications:
ODOT flagging certificate is required or must be obtained within six (6) months. Oregon public pesticide license must be obtained within twelve (12) months.
Substitution:
Any satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which demonstrates the knowledge of, skills, and abilities required to perform the duties of the job.
