THE POSITION
The Forest Maintenance Worker position with the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources offers a chance to make a lasting impact on Pennsylvania forests. You help keep facilities, trails, and public spaces safe and welcoming for visitors. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work and being outdoors. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position supports the maintenance and protection of buildings, roads, trails, and forest infrastructure across the Weiser Forest District. The role involves semi-skilled tasks that help keep facilities safe, clean, and operational. As a Forest Maintenance Worker, you will perform the following duties:
Building Maintenance:
Perform repairs and general upkeep on buildings and facilities using tools and basic trade skills
Grounds Care:
Maintain grounds by mowing, trimming, pruning, and cleaning outdoor areas around facilities
Roads And Trails:
Assist with the upkeep of roads and trails by clearing debris, improving surfaces, and operating basic equipment
Tools And Equipment:
Complete routine maintenance on tools and equipment and keep work areas organized and clean
Forest Tasks:
Help with timber management, regeneration projects, and other state forest program activities
Fire Support:
Assist with wildfire prevention and suppression activities when instructed Interested in learning more? Additional details regarding this position can be found in the position description.
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
This is a seasonal, full-time position with no healthcare benefits. There is not an option to buy into health care benefits. The season runs from March 2026 until November 2026 at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment March 2027. Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. This position may require overtime.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Conditions of Employment:
This position requires possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.
