3 Year Limited Term - Game Lands Maintenance Worker 1

The Pennsylvania Game Commission is seeking a hardworking, outdoor-driven Game Lands Maintenance Worker 1 to help build, maintain, and enhance Pennsylvania's game lands and wildlife habitats. In this fast-paced role, you will operate heavy equipment, construct and repair infrastructure, manage habitat projects, assist with prescribed fires, and work across forests, fields, and rugged terrain to support healthy ecosystems and public access. As a Game Lands Maintenance Worker 1, you will perform a variety of semi-skilled duties that support the maintenance, repair, and construction of game land infrastructure such as bridges, roads, culverts, parking areas, gates, signs, and public ranges. You will also assist with mowing, border cuts and access trail maintenance, habitat management projects, and other field tasks essential to maintaining safe, accessible, and wildlife-friendly environments. Additional duties may include nursery production through the securing of seeds, and the pruning and releasing of fruit and nut trees, shrubs, and vines for wildlife food enhancement. Employees in this role work closely with field staff to ensure game lands remain in excellent condition for wildlife and the public. Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Temporary, full-time employment, 40 hours/week Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. This position may be eligible for alternate work schedule (AWS).

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

One year of laboring experience using construction tools and equipment ; or One year of farming experience using agricultural tools and equipment ; or One year of construction equipment operation experience ; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements:

This position requires possession of an active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent. This position requires the selected candidate to obtain an active Class A Commercial Driver's License within one year of employment in this job.
