Job Description
To apply for this position: leechburg.schoolspring.com The Leechburg Area School District is seeking a dependable and versatile Maintenance Worker to join our Buildings & Grounds Department. The successful candidate will perform a wide variety of maintenance, repair, and preventative maintenance tasks throughout district buildings and grounds. This position requires working knowledge and hands-on experience across multiple trades, including, but not limited to carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting, masonry, and general building maintenance. Additional duties are athletic field and school grounds maintenance consisting of grass mowing/trimming, snow removal and maintenance of associated equipment. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated problem solver who can work independently and as part of a team to help maintain a safe, clean, and efficient learning environment for students, staff, and visitors. This is primarily a daylight (6am - 2pm) shift, however, work backlog and weather conditions may require evening/morning shifts.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Must have a High School Diploma. 2. Must have vocational training or certification in general plumbing, electrical and/or carpentry trade or three years experience working in the above disciplines.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Performs a wide variety of repairs and maintenance tasks assigned which involves work in all trades (carpentry, plumbing, electrical,painting, air conditioning, etc.) at all buildings. 2. Repairs and maintains wood and metal shelving and railings, repairs damage sections of wood floors, erects and remove wood, metal and glass partitions; repairs doors and windows; cuts and installs glass in windows or doors; lay or replaces linoleum and asphalt tile floors; makes minor furniture repairs; installs and repairs window shades and venetian blinds. 3. Makes minor plumbing repairs such as clearing stoppages in toilet bowls or urinals replacing valves and seats on water and air lines; repairing flushometers; installing waste, vent and water lines as directed. 4. Installs and repairs drinking fountains, sinks, faucets, toilet bowls and related fixtures. 5. Makes minor repairs to put equipment back into operation such as replacing fuses, belts, bare wire, or opening and closing valves and pushing rest buttons. 6. Repairs, replaces and troubleshoots all electrical equipment in the district. This includes lighting fixtures, wall switches, fuse and breaker boxes,safety boxes and electric motors up to and including 220 volts. 7. Repairs, adjusts and troubleshoots all heating problems. (Boilers, pumps, air compressors, univents, air dryers, etc.) 8. Records all service call requests and preventive maintenance accomplishments on a day to-day basis. 9. Prepares playing surfaces, equipment, and facilities used during the athletic activities. 10. Conducts snow removal, plows and salts all driveways and parking lots. 11. Capable of lifting 50 pounds. 12. Picks up government food for the district using a district vehicle when deemed necessary by the Director of building and Grounds. 13. Operates school vehicles in performance of assigned tasks. 14. Responds to any maintenance problem as deemed necessary by the Director of Facilities and Grounds. 15. Capable of using ladders to exam and repair district facilities. 16. Move between and within various district offices and buildings. 17. Carry on conversations in person and to communicate via telephone. 18. Maintains general facility grounds,driveways, playgrounds and stadium areas. 19. Raises the United States flag at or before 8:00 a.m. on each school day. 20. Performs general emergency clean-ups during the school day. 21. Keeps the facility grounds free from rubbish. 22. Performs such yard keeping chores, as grass cutting, tree trimming, and the like, as necessary, to maintain the school grounds in a safe and attractive condition. 23. Assumes responsibility for closing and securing district facilities at all scheduled after school events. 24. Move furniture or equipment within buildings as required for various activities and as scheduled by the director. 25. Any other duties assigned by the Director of Building & Grounds.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Twelve (12) month year. Salary and work year to be determined by contractual agreement.
EVALUATION
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the board's policy on Evaluation of Classified/ Support Personnel.
