Maintenance Assistant/HVAC Technician Northumberland, PA 1 DAYS AGO 22471120 Summary Northumberland, PA In-Person $25.00 - $30.00 per Hour 2 Years Experience Vocational/Technical Certificate No Commission 40.00 hours per week / Day, Weekend Shift / Full-Time Description The primary purpose of the a Maintenance Assistant (HVAC Technician) is to repair, service and maintain the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment, systems and related or connected equipment. Along with maintaining service to the cooling tower and boiler maintenance as assigned. Assisting, when work load allows, with other various maintenance items. Position is Monday - Friday, with rotating weekends every 3rd week. Qualifications Must possess a valid PA drivers license Must possess certification in HVAC (Heating and Cooling) Must possess a 2 year associate degree from a certified HVAC trade school. 2 years of work experience preferred. Must be able to read, write and speak the English language. Possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action. Possess the ability to work harmoniously and deal tactfully with personnel, residents, visitors and the general public. Posses a universal refrigerant license. Must be knowledgeable of safe maintenance practices, procedures, and guidelines. Ability to minimize waste of supplies, misuse of equipment, etc. Possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing maintenance practices. Be able to follow written and oral instructions. Must attend and complete the annual Mandatory In-Service. Major Duties and Responsibilities Performs preventative maintenance tasks on HVAC equipment and on connected or related equipment that is essential to the proper operation of the HVAC equipment. Examples - Electrical supply to the equipment, condensate piping and pumps, water supply to equipment, air distribution, cooling tower start up and shut down, boiler maintenance, and proper refrigerant disposal/ handling. Diagnoses malfunctions or failures in HVAC and related equipment. Performs skilled repairs or part replacement to correct the problems. Participate in a call rotation with the other maintenance staff. Receive and follow maintenance schedule/instructions from the Director of Maintenance and as outlined in our established maintenance policies and procedures. Perform routine and unscheduled maintenance on grounds, parking areas, driveways, etc., by cutting, trimming, policing, sweeping, etc., as necessary/directed. Perform routine maintenance and repair on the facility and equipment to include heating and cooling units/systems, plumbing, plastering, electrical, carpentry, mechanical, etc., as directed, in accordance with established procedures, and for the resident safety, comfort, and convenience. Follow all established safety procedures and precautions when performing maintenance service. Perform unscheduled maintenance and maintain general plant and facility in good repair, ensuring a safe, clean and orderly environment. Perform unscheduled maintenance and replace burned out light bulbs, to include, exit lights, overhead lights, fluorescent lights, room call lights, etc., and perform housekeeping duties in very high places. Report all incident/accidents, as well as all unsafe/hazardous conditions, defective equipment, etc., no matter how minor, to your supervisor immediately. Follow lock-out/ tag out protocols. Ensure maintenance supplies have been replenished in work areas as necessary by performing unscheduled inventory checks. Ensure that maintenance schedules are followed as outlined for respective shift/area. Attend and participate in in-service educational classes, workshops, seminars, on-the-job training programs, etc. as directed. Assure that resident's rights to fair and equitable treatment, self-determination, individuality, privacy, property and civil rights, including the right to wage complaints, are followed. Assure that work/assignment areas are clean and equipment, tools, supplies, etc., are properly stored before leaving such areas on breaks, end of work day, etc. as well as perform unscheduled inspections of such areas. Keep your work area(s) free of hazardous conditions, i.e., grease/oil spills, excess supplies, equipment, etc., to assure that all established safety rules/regulations are followed at all times by performing unscheduled inspections of such areas. Follow established policies and procedures concerning infection control when performing maintenance services in isolation rooms/areas. Other related duties as may become necessary or as directed by your supervisor, or administrator. Work with and help other departments. Additional Details
