Job Description

Maintenance Assistant Summary The Maintenance Assistant supports the maintenance team in maintaining the facility, equipment, and grounds in a safe, clean, and functional condition. This position assists with routine maintenance, repairs, inspections, and general upkeep of the property. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Perform routine inspections of buildings, grounds, and common areas to identify maintenance or safety concerns Assist with general building maintenance, including painting, sanding, and minor repairs Remove snow and apply salt to sidewalks and parking areas during inclement weather Perform landscaping duties such as mowing, trimming, weeding, and planting Assist with preventative maintenance tasks and basic equipment upkeep Maintain a clean and organized work environment Work collaboratively with team members and staff in a professional manner Follow all workplace safety policies and procedures Perform additional duties as assigned based on operational needs Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred Previous maintenance, facilities, or groundskeeping experience preferred Basic knowledge of hand and power tools preferred Ability to work independently and as part of a team Skills & Competencies Strong problem-solving and organizational skills Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities Attention to detail and time management skills Professional communication and teamwork skills Flexibility and willingness to assist in various maintenance tasks Travel Requirements Occasional local travel may be required Physical Requirements Ability to lift, carry, push, or move up to 50 pounds Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and work outdoors for extended periods Ability to work in varying weather conditions Work Environment This position operates within a professional animal hospital environment. Employees may be exposed to cleaning chemicals, animal odors, noise, animal waste, and potentially injured or ill animals. Appropriate safety equipment and procedures are provided and required.
