Job Description

The DoubleTree by Hilton in Downtown Reading, PA is hiring! We are seeking a full-time Hotel Chief Assistant / Maintenance Engineer to ensure our hotel facilities remain in excellent working condition. This role ensures all building systems, guest rooms, and facilities are maintained to the highest standards to provide safe, comfortable, and high-quality guest experience. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable in various aspects of maintenance. Previous experience in a hotel or hospitality environment preferred.
Job Responsibilities:
Assist the Chief Engineer with daily engineering operations throughout the hotel. Maintain the physical appearance, safety, and operational efficiency of the property. Support renovation projects and assist with contractor coordination as needed. Respond promptly and professionally to maintenance requests, guest concerns, and emergency situations. Ensure hotel systems are properly maintained, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, elevators, kitchen equipment, and laundry facilities. Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house spaces, grounds, work areas, and safety equipment to ensure standards and code requirements are met. Supervise maintenance staff to support high performance, productivity, and service quality. Coordinate with Housekeeping, Front Office, Food & Beverage, and other departments to promote smooth daily operations.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout the hotel premises Ability to lift and carry heavy objects up to 25 pounds or more at one time
Schedule:
8-hour shift Requires flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and holidays Weekend shifts are on rotation

Minimum 3-5 years (Required)
Qualifications:
Relevant technical certifications (preferred) Strong knowledge of hotel engineering systems and maintenance practices Understanding of local safety and compliance regulations Proven experience as a maintenance engineer or similar role Ability to work independently and as part of a team Good communication and interpersonal skills
