Job Description
THE POSITION
Join the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources as a seasonal Forest Maintenance Worker and help keep our forests healthy and welcoming. This role gives you the chance to work outdoors while supporting essential conservation efforts. Your work will help visitors enjoy safe roads, trails, and recreational spaces. Be part of a team that protects and maintains Pennsylvania's natural areas.DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this position, you will support the maintenance and daily operations of State Forest lands while assisting with safety, equipment use, and emergency response. You will play an important role in protecting facilities, roads, and natural resources. As a seasonal Forest Maintenance Worker, you will perform the following duties:Facility Upkeep:
Clean and repair State Forest buildings, trails, boundaries, equipment, and toolsEquipment Operation:
Operate and maintain vehicles, tools, and specialized machinery for forest maintenanceRoad Maintenance:
Maintain safe, smooth, and properly drained forest roads and clear right-of-way areasEmergency Response:
Assist with search and rescue, wildfire control, and other assigned emergency dutiesForest Support Tasks:
Help with snow removal, supply delivery, facility protection, and general forest management activitiesFire Response:

This is a seasonal, full-time position with no healthcare benefits. There is not an option to buy into health care benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2026 until November 2026 at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment March 2027. Work hours are 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Tuesday - Thursday, 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Mondays -OFF Telework:

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.Condition of Employment:
This position requires possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.Other Requirements:
