  • Parks Maintenance Worker Join our Parks Team! Operator
  • Parks and Recreation Department This position will perform a wide variety of duties necessary to maintain all parks, facilities and athletic fields as well as other related duties.
Operates, maintains and repairs to a wide variety of department vehicles, small engines and turf equipment. The work is performed under the supervision of the Parks and Grounds Superintendent and the Director of Community Services. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Operation and maintenance of various types of powered equipment both self-propelled and non-self-propelled utilized in grounds management; Maintain parks, open space areas, cemeteries, playgrounds, athletic court areas, and varied types of Town and School playing fields as well as work with and maintain the necessary tools and equipment; Perform typical grounds maintenance activities such as weed control, seeding, fertilizing planting, mulching, watering, shrub trimming, pruning, brush cutting, tree trimming, raking, mowing, as well as street sign maintenance; Responsible for assisting with seasonal field lining, bases and goals installation and maintenance of infields as well as identifying turf issues; Performs custodial responsibilities such as litter clean-up, restroom cleaning and trash removal; Responds to assist in departmental responses to emergencies including but not limited to winter weather events, hurricanes, natural disasters, flooding or other weather related events which may be managed by the Public Works Department; Perform other duties as assigned and which are consistent with this position. High school diploma or GED, plus one to three years of relevant work experience or a combination of education and experience, from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired. Valid Driver's license, review of driving history with no restrictions that would limit or adversely affect insurability; CDL preferred; must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment physical and drug test and a criminal background check.
