Street Maintenance Worker - Seasonal

Job Summary This position participates in the repair and maintenance of town streets and related infrastructure. Duties Assists in a variety of street and infrastructure construction, maintenance, and repair duties, Operates a variety of assigned equipment and tools. Haul and dump material in dump truck, collect and dispose of roadway and sidewalk materials. Repairs utility cuts and potholes. Replaces and repairs street signs. Maintains sidewalks and curbs. Cleans storm drains. Operates a variety of hand and power tools, including chain saw, weed eater, blower, shovel, rake, limb saw, etc. Mows grass and cuts weeds; operates a leaf blower; edges sidewalks. Pours and finishes concrete. Operates a backhoe to remove concrete and asphalt. Builds forms and pours concrete for sidewalks. Removes debris from roadways. Assists in traffic control at work sites. Responds to after-hours emergencies. Performs pre- and post-trip vehicle and equipment inspections; preforms preventive maintenance. Performs related duties. Qualifications Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent. Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years. Or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.

Pay:

$21.29 per hour
