Job Title Maintenance Assistant (MA) 2026-2027 Location Alpine Department Housing Administration Job No. SF9946 Posting Date 04/16/2026 End Date Until Filled Yes Appointment Date Salary $9.50 per hour Required Prior to application, applicants must have the following abilities: Ability to communicate well to students and University professional staff members Ability to establish rapport with diverse groups of people Ability to be flexible Hold full-time student status (be in good standing with the University), unless approved otherwise Preferred Staffing Reason Work Study Primary Responsibilities The Maintenance Assistant is a student staff member of the Office of Residential Living who assumes major responsibilities in both the Residential Living facilities and at assigned moments, in the office. As part of their job, MAs serve as a representative for the Office of Residential Living which includes: being knowledgeable of basic Residential Living policies (or understanding of how to locate them), using tools for repairs etc. in a responsible manner, presenting professionally in terms of attire, communication, and interpersonal skills when dealing with University faculty, staff, students, and prospective students along with their families. MA job responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Accompanying Physical Plant or Custodial to unlock or be present for work orders Completing minor work orders with Residential Living's tools on an as needed basis with student maintenance staff or accompanying Resident or Office Assistant Conducting inventory of Residential Living property on a routine basis or as needed Moving furniture and other items to assigned rooms or designated storage location Answering and placing phone calls to students (current and prospective) and University faculty/staff and vendors Scanning, filing, and shredding documents as directed by the Director of Residential Living, Assistant Directors, and Housing Administrative Assistant Referring current and prospective students to appropriate resources Completing all other duties as assigned by Residential Living administrative staff members Other Information An Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer It is the policy of Sul Ross State University to provide equal employment opportunity for all persons in accordance with their individual, job related qualifications and without consideration of race, creed, color, sex, religion, age, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, veteran status and ancestry.
