Job Description
SUMMARY This position will primarily assist the Utilities and Environmental functions of the Public Works Department by inspecting water meters, geolocating water meter locations, and confirming service line material. Additionally, the position will be rotated through the Public Works divisions of Water and Wastewater maintenance, Environmental, Engineering, Streets, Stormwater, and Traffic to gain experience and understanding of their functions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direction of the Utility Maintenance Supervisor, complete water service line inventories of residential and commercial water meters, pinpointing these water meter locations on a map by geo-tagging their locations. Document the service address, meter number, and cellular endpoint identification number to complete an audit of all installed water appurtenances. Inputting necessary data into the ESRI ArcGIS application, and documenting work with pictures. Completing daily work orders for survey areas completed. Identifying any discrepancies in field investigations of water meters and services and informing the Environmental Specialist to conduct follow-up inspections. Utilizing hand tools and specialized equipment related to the repairs of water and wastewater infrastructure. Assisting other Public Works Divisions as needed, or when assigned.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.QUALIFICATIONS

Valid Texas Driver's License. Ability to obtain a Texas B Commercial Driver's License within one (1) year of hire. Ability to obtain a Work Zone Traffic Control certification within one (1) year of hireKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of:
A basic knowledge of computer systems andESRI GIS
applications. A basic knowledge of hand tools and small machinery. Knowledge of computer hardware, including desktops, laptops, and mobile devices.Skills in:
