Job Description

As a Wastewater Collection Maintenance Worker I for the City of Borger, you are integral to the daily operations and maintenance of the wastewater collection system. This entry-level position involves performing routine tasks essential for the upkeep and functionality of the sewer lines and related infrastructure. System Maintenance :
Perform routine maintenance on sewer lines, manholes, and related wastewater collection infrastructure.
Blockage Removal :
Respond to and clear blockages within the wastewater collection system using specialized tools and equipment.
Inspection and Monitoring :
Conduct regular inspections of the collection system to identify and report potential issues or damage.
Equipment Operation :
Operate basic mechanical equipment used in the maintenance and repair of the wastewater system.
Safety and Compliance :
Adhere to all safety protocols and environmental regulations during maintenance activities to prevent incidents and ensure public and environmental safety.
Support and Collaboration :
Assist more experienced workers in complex maintenance tasks and projects as needed.
Education :
High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certifications in wastewater management is a plus.
Experience :
Prior experience in maintenance, construction, or related field is beneficial but not required.
Certifications :
Must possess or be able to obtain a Wastewater Collection System Operator Certification from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) within a designated timeframe.
Skills :
Basic knowledge of wastewater systems, ability to use hand and power tools, physical stamina for manual labor.
