The Yard Worker plays a crucial role in ensuring that storage units and offices are maintained in optimal condition, ready for rental, and repairs both on-site and at customer locations. This position involves a range of tasks to maintain cleanliness, perform repairs, and organize the yard, contributing to a safe and efficient working environment. The Yard Worker position requires an individual with a proactive approach to maintenance tasks, attention to detail, and the ability to manage various responsibilities efficiently. This role contributes significantly to the upkeep of facilities and ensuring customer satisfaction. Responsibilities Include, but are not Limited to Clean, repair, and ensure the readiness of storage units and offices for rental, including on-site repairs for customer units. Tasks encompass sweeping, hosing, checking and repairing A/C (if applicable), replacing flooring, repairing drywall holes, cleaning windows, blinds, doors, floors, and walls, replacing various fixtures (light bulbs, locks, blinds, door handles), painting, minor welding, minor electrical work, and necessary repairs for customer units. Document completed work and verified the status of units for further repairs or readiness for rental. Maintain inventory and ensure supplies are stocked while keeping the yard organized and free from debris or potential hazards. Operate forklift to load and unload containers from various trucks and trailers. Fulfill other assigned duties as required, ensuring regular attendance to meet job demands. Maintains a safe work environment. o Always performs job functions safely. o Participates in all safety meetings. o Communicates all concerns or violations to appropriate manager(s) immediately. o Uses the proper Personal Protective Equipment when performing work duties. Employees wear the proper shoes, glasses, gloves, ear protection, etc. Employees are properly attired to perform their job safely (no loose-fitting clothes, unsafe jewelry, etc.). o Disposes of waste properly. o Abides by all local, state, and Federal laws; reads, understands, and agrees to follow the policies outlined in the Company Safety Manual and Company Handbook. Performs other related duties as assigned. Fleet, Truck & Equipment Maintenance Responsibilities Oversee truck, trailer, and equipment maintenance to ensure sale, reliable operation at all times. Ensure full compliance with DOT regulations for all trucks and trailers, including inspections, maintenance schedules, and documentation requirements. Verify that each truck and trailer carries all required DOT paperwork, permits, and inspection records. Coordinate preventative maintenance and address repair needs to minimize downtime and maintain operational efficiency. Maintain accurate maintenance and compliance records in accordance with company policies and regulatory standards. Equipment Used Mop Paint and painting materials (buckets, brushes, rollers, stencils) Drywall putty and masks Welder Floor cleaners Maintenance tools for repairs Electrical hand tools (preferred) Gas-powered forklift Job Requirements 0-2 years of experience in general labor and general repairs. High School Diploma or GED. Preferably some welding experience. Possession of a valid driver's license.
