Job Description

Annapolis Christian Academy is currently seeking a groundskeeper and maintenance assistant to join our team in Corpus Christi, TX. Position Summary The Groundskeeper & Facilities Assistant is primarily responsible for maintaining the campus grounds, landscaping, athletic fields, parking areas, playgrounds, and outdoor facilities in a clean, safe, attractive, and functional condition. While the primary focus of this position is outdoor grounds maintenance, the Groundskeeper & Facilities Assistant will also provide custodial and facility support as needed to help maintain campus buildings and support school operations. This position works closely with the Maintenance Manager and Lead Custodian to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for students, staff, families, and visitors. Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities Mow, edge, trim, water, and maintain lawns, athletic fields, landscaped areas, and campus grounds. Remove weeds, trim shrubs and hedges, prune trees, and maintain flower beds and other landscape features. Perform routine grounds cleanup, including collecting litter, leaves, branches, and other debris from campus grounds, parking lots, sidewalks, playgrounds, and athletic facilities. Empty exterior trash receptacles and transport waste to designated collection areas. Assist with planting, fertilizing, watering, cultivating, and maintaining flowers, trees, shrubs, and turf areas. Prepare and maintain athletic fields, including mowing, edging, repairing, dragging, and marking fields as needed. Operate and maintain groundskeeping equipment, including mowers, trimmers, edgers, blowers, chainsaws, sprayers, and other hand and power tools. Apply approved weed and pest control methods in accordance with established procedures. Assist with the installation, maintenance, and repair of irrigation systems, including adjusting and replacing sprinkler heads and repairing minor irrigation issues. Assist with minor outdoor repairs, including fence repairs, landscape improvements, tree maintenance, and general grounds projects. Load, unload, transport, and store equipment, supplies, materials, and debris as required. Identify and report unsafe conditions, equipment issues, and maintenance needs. Custodial & Facility Support Responsibilities Assist with cleaning and sanitizing classrooms, offices, restrooms, hallways, and common areas as assigned. Empty interior trash receptacles and transport waste to designated disposal areas. Restock restroom and custodial supplies as needed. Assist with floor care projects, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and seasonal deep-cleaning tasks. Assist with event setup and teardown, including arranging tables, chairs, staging, and equipment for school functions and special events. Respond to spills, weather-related cleanup, and other facility support needs. Assist with campus opening and closing procedures as assigned. Report facility maintenance concerns, safety hazards, and repair needs to the Maintenance Manager. Assist the Lead Custodian with special cleaning projects and emergency custodial needs.
Knowledge of:
Knowledge of basic grounds maintenance procedures, including mowing, edging, trimming, watering, pruning, and weed control. Ability to safely operate and maintain groundskeeping equipment and power tools. Knowledge of landscaping materials, irrigation systems, and athletic field maintenance practices. Basic understanding of custodial cleaning methods and facility maintenance procedures. Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively. Ability to identify safety hazards and maintenance concerns. Strong work ethic, dependability, and attention to detail.
Requirements:
High School Diploma or Equivalent A valid driver's license Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check Ability to use smartphones or other electronic devices to document tasks Ability to read, write, and understand English. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
