BRIEF DESCRIPTION

Under the general supervision of the Public Works Supervisor, the Seasonal Street Maintenance Worker performs manual labor and semi-skilled work in support of street maintenance and repair operations. This temporary position assists with maintaining City streets, drainage systems, and rights-of-way to ensure safe and efficient public infrastructure.

Requirements:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND OPERATIONS

Perform street maintenance activities, including pothole patching, asphalt repair, and roadway upkeep Assist with maintenance of drainage systems, including cleaning ditches, culverts, and storm drains Operate and maintain hand tools and basic equipment (e.g., shovels, rakes, tampers, jackhammers) Assist with traffic control by placing and removing cones, barricades, and warning signs Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment as needed Maintain cleanliness of streets, alleys, and public rights-of-way Follow all safety policies and procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) Respond to work assignments in a timely and efficient manner Regular and timely attendance Perform other related duties as assigned

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Basic knowledge of street maintenance practices and tools Ability to work effectively in a team environment Ability to work in extreme weather conditions, including heat, cold, and inclement weather Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds Ability to understand and follow safety rules and regulations

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES REQUIRED

High school diploma or GED preferred Applicable valid Texas Driver's License Must be bondable
