May assist in semi-skilled manual labor assisting in the installation, maintenance and repair of the water supply and distribution facilities and systems to protect the public health in accordance with state and federal regulations. Operates safely and in compliance with all environmental permits, procedures, and policies of the Company. Responsible for immediately reporting all accidents/incidents, damage and any injury to the site Foreman. No supervisory responsibilities. Duties to be performed under site Foreman.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Cuts grass, trims and maintains landscapes in an attractive condition a water distribution plants, water wells, administration building and other CLCWA facilities. 2. Maintains and services lawn maintenance equipment including mowers, edger's and trimming equipment. 3. Maintains lawns and shrubs by fertilizing, insect and weed control. 4. Hauls broken concrete and other rubbish to the proper land fill facility. 5. Assist with reading water meters, checks meters for high and low reads and for stuck meters, and replace meter boxes. 6. Installing, maintaining, and repairing pipes, meters, meter boxes, gate valves, fire hydrants, concrete vaults and other water system components. 7. Inspects storm drains for proper drainage in the event of heavy rain. 8. Learn to operate a variety of equipment and machines such as jackhammers, compressor and various hand and power tools. 9. Communicate with coworkers and supervisors on matters of work. 10. Responsible maintaining and wearing required PPE at all times. 11. Attendance of department safety meetings and compliance. 12. Able to perform job duties in inclement weather.
OTHER DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
Performs daily/weekly/monthly equipment maintenance and general housekeeping as assigned. 2. As need arises, may need to cross train and assist other department teams during times of absence. 3. May operates seer jet truck, 2-ton trucks. 4. May be required to operate a backhoe, excavator, tractor, dump truck or other heavy equipment. 5. Performs other related duties as required or as the company needs. Physical and Environmental Conditions
  • Frequently encounters dirt and dust, noise and vibration, fumes and odors and wetness/humidity.
  • May be frequently exposed to mechanical, chemical, and electrical hazards.
  • The position is in an office; shop; and an outdoor plant environment with exposure to inclement weather.
  • Frequently lifts up to 40-lbs. and occasionally lift up to 90-lbs.
  • Must be able to walk up/downstairs and ascend/descend 20-foot vertical ladder. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
  • This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week. Hours are Monday-Thursday, 7:00am-5:30pm.
  • This position does not generally require long hours and/or weekend work, but it may be necessary on occasion.
Minimum Education, Experience and Certification
REQUIRED
  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Texas driver's license, and ability to maintain an insurable driving record.
PREFERRED
  • 1 year experience as a Laborer or Groundskeeping preferred.
  • CDL preferred.
  • Past experience working with a utility company, municipality, and/or environmental experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
REQUIRED
  • Ability to read safety procedures, instructions and maintenance schedules.
  • Skills in the use of grass cutting and landscape maintenance equipment.
  • Ability to read diagrams, specs, manuals, blueprints and perform basic math calculations.
  • Ability to read Standard Operating Procedures, instructions, and daily reports.
PREFERRED
  • Skills in driving and operating heavy equipment, carpentry, painting and welding.
  • Knowledge of maintenance and repair of heavy equipment and lawn maintenance equipment.
  • Ability to operate backhoe tractor, one or two-ton truck, tractor, mowing equipment, air compressor, jack hammer, sewer jet truck and tapping machine.
