Street & Sanitation Maintenance Worker I City of Navasota, TX Navasota, TX Job Details Full-time $16.68 - $21.57 an hour 4 days ago Qualifications Grounds maintenance and landscaping equipment operation Outdoor work Employee relationship building English Shovels Power tools Hand tools Facilities maintenance Full Job Description JOB Performs various manual tasks for cleaning, maintaining, and repairing city facilities, streets, drainage systems, and right-of-ways.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS 1.
Reports to: Street and Sanitation Crew Leader 2.
Directs:
This is a non-supervisory position. 3.
Other:
Has contact with other city employees and occasionally with the general public.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Assists with repairing potholes, including setting up barricades to warn traffic of hazardous areas, measuring, cleaning, and filling holes; Maintains ditches by hand or using a push or power lawn mower, power trimmer, hoe, shovel, or swing blade; Trim trees, pick up brush, and load brush onto the truck; Picks up litter on the sides of streets and roads; Attends training sessions on safety and street maintenance as required; Picks up recyclables and disposes them at the Recycle Center; Paint curbs and parking lines; and Installs and maintains road signs. Other Important Duties Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of:
methods, practices, materials, and equipment used in street system maintenance; and use and care of tools and specialized equipment.
Skill/Ability to:
understand and follow instructions; use power or hand-operated tools, including, trimmer, hoe, shovel, etc.; tolerate outside working conditions, including exposure to adverse weather conditions; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers.
