Facilities & IT Director Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Facilities Maintenance and Repair Technician to join our church team. This role is essential to maintaining our facilities in safe, clean, and functional condition, ensuring a welcoming environment for our congregation, staff, and visitors. The Facilities Technician focuses on core building maintenance — preventive care, repairs, and building systems — so that our facility consistently supports the ministry that happens within it. This position may also include some carpentry and fabrication.
Facilities Responsibilities:
Maintenance & Repairs Perform routine preventive maintenance on all building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and structural components Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency repairs o Conduct regular facility inspections to identify potential issues before they become significant problems Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work completed in the facility management system Building Systems Monitor and maintain heating, cooling, and ventilation systems Troubleshoot and repair plumbing fixtures and systems Perform basic electrical repairs and maintenance (within code and safety standards) Maintain electrical backup systems, fire suppression systems, and other critical building equipment Facility Operations Communicate with janitorial staff as needed to ensure facilities remain sanitary and organized Manage inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment Perform minor renovations, painting, drywall repairs, and finish work as needed Ensure ongoing compliance with building codes and safety regulations Operate and maintain grounds equipment (sissor lift, forklift, etc.) Support light carpentry and fabrication projects as capacity allows, including minor woodworking, shelving, and finish work Safety & Documentation Maintain a safe work environment and follow all safety protocols at all times Report hazards and unsafe conditions immediately to Faciltiites & IT Director Document all maintenance activities and project work in the facility management system Assist with emergency preparedness and disaster response
Volunteer Team Support:
As our facilities volunteer team develops, this role will lead and work alongside volunteers on event support, routine walkthroughs, and project assistance. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Minimum 3-5 years of facilities maintenance experience or related experience Valid driver's license Proficiency in basic plumbing, electrical, and HVAC maintenance Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently Excellent communication and customer service skills Physical Requirements Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and perform manual labor Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in various weather conditions Capable of standing, walking, bending, climbing, and lifting throughout the shift Comfortable using hand and power tools (including saws, drills, sanders, etc.) Comfortable operating metal fabrication equipment May be required to be on-call for emergency repairs Work Environment Full-time position (may include on-call emergency support) Flexible hours to accommodate church events and schedules Sunday availability highly preferred (not essential, but strongly desired) Professional appearance and demeanor required Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary commensurate with experience Health insurance benefits Paid time off Professional development opportunities We expect our staff to lead themselves and others well, with a commitment to developing high levels of spiritual, relational, and professional trust together.
