We are currently seeking:
A maintenance worker to join our team and perform unskilled general labor and maintenance work for W/W Collections and Water Distribution in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures.
Your responsibilities will include:
Operating a variety of specialized equipment and performing general manual labor tasks. Duties will vary according to job assignment and individual skills and responds to emergencies as needed. Digging and filling holes and ditches with a shovel around pipes and underground utilities. Operating and maintaining a variety of tools and specialized equipment. Assisting in the repair of leaks; around damaged pipes to prepare for repair clamps. Assisting in installing tap saddles and valves. Assisting in repairs and installing fire hydrants. Cleaning, picking up litter, trash, and debris from grounds.
Hours:
Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. This is an on-call position which can include weekends and holidays. Regular and timely attendance is required. The above duties are not intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by all employees in this classification, only a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties. Safe and efficient operation and maintenance of tools and equipment. Closely follow verbal and written instructions and procedures.
Education and Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent required.
Required Licenses or Certifications:
Must possess a valid driver license with a good driving record. Applicants with an out-of-state driver license must provide an original certified driving record from the state of driving licensure. The selected applicant will be required to obtain a Class D Water License within one year of hire as condition of employment.
Required Knowledge of:
City policies and procedures. City safety rules and regulations, occupational hazards and safety precautions. Physical Demands /
Work Environment:
Work is performed outdoors. Requires constant physical efforts, and ability to lift and carry up to 113 pounds. Job postings may be withdrawn at any time at direction of the City Manager.
