Job Summary The Facilities Maintenance Technician supports the upkeep and functionality of City of Schertz facilities. This role performs a variety of maintenance and repair tasks across multiple trades, ensuring safe, clean, and operational environments for city departments. The position requires both independent work and collaboration with a maintenance team, along with sound judgment in preventive maintenance decisions.

Duration:

Estimated 4-6 months (subject to change; potential for extension based on operational needs) Key Responsibilities Perform minor repairs and maintenance across electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, glass, masonry, and office furniture Complete facility setup and breakdown for meetings and city events Conduct routine maintenance and general cleaning of city facilities Maintain preventive maintenance schedules and recommend necessary actions Track inventory, order supplies, and manage equipment stock levels Operate power and non-power tools safely and effectively Maintain basic records and reports related to maintenance activities Follow safety protocols and participate in on-the-job training programs Perform physically demanding tasks, including heavy lifting Required Experience 1+ year of experience in facilities maintenance, building maintenance, or a related field Experience working with multiple maintenance trades (e.g., electrical, plumbing, carpentry) Nice-to-Have Experience Experience in municipal or government facility maintenance Experience supporting event setup and breakdown operations Familiarity with preventive maintenance systems or scheduling tools Required Skills Proficiency in multi-trade maintenance (electrical, plumbing, carpentry) Ability to safely operate power tools and maintenance equipment Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or in a team Preferred Skills Preventive maintenance planning and scheduling Inventory management and supply tracking Basic recordkeeping and report documentation Workplace safety compliance (OSHA awareness) Time management and task prioritization Additional Requirements Valid Texas Driver's License Ability to perform heavy lifting and physically demanding work Availability to work full-time (40 hours per week) Please submit your resume and call the office at (210)892-0564. #vipstaffing #zrsch
